Raindrops on Roses and....oops!.
Seriously though over the years I have found several wonderful building tools and supplies that have made construction (and storage) of my halloween display simple and efficient. Here are just a few:
- 3/4" white pvc pipe - Available in the plumbing department of your local hardware store, I have found this to be a great alternative to lumber in building many structural supports. Not only is it light weight and easy to handle, but it also is easy to disassemble for storage.
- 4' x 8' RS Styrofoam - This blue styrofoam sheeting comes in several thicknesses from the hardware store and can be used for building structures as well as tombstones. (Note: Some people prefer to use thicker styrofoam or glue several pieces of this blue sheeting together. While this does make the tombstones more realistic, I have discovered that the single thickness looks just fine head-on and is much nicer when it comes to storage.)
- Cable Ties - These plastic 'zipper' strips come in various colors and length and can be founs in hardware stores and discount stores (usually in the electrical department). They are useful for several tasks, including attaching styrofoam sheeting to pvc structures.
- Wood Burning Tool - Found in the craft department of most discount stores, this tool is great for burning features into styrofoam walls and tombstone (this is a great idea that I found on line).
- T - Pins - Sold as Quilters pins in the craft department or (in a larger size) as wig block pins in beauty supply shops, these are great for making temporary connects of styrofoam pieces in your display.
